About

Hi there,

Let me introduce myself.  My name is Keith Thomson I am 51 years old and I am married to a truly beautiful woman called Anne. We have one son, Jamie who is married to a tremendous young lady, Elizabeth.

Anne and I currently are living in Tanzania, East Africa, where I am working as a missionary with the church of Christ. We live in a great town called Arusha that is on the slopes of Mount Meru and is about an hour's drive away from the fabulous Mount Kilimanjaro.

I was born in Africa, in the country that was called Northern Rhodesia, but is now called Zambia. I did my secondary schooling in Australia and that is where Anne and I met and where we raised our family.

A few years ago the local church of Christ here in Arusha approached me and asked if I would be willing to come and help them with developing the work in Arusha and the surrounding areas. This excited me for several reasons. Firstly because I would be going to help a local work, rather than a "white man" going to start a work for our black brethren. Secondly it was a chance to get back to Africa having left when I was a small child.

Anne and I have lived here since August 2010 and are feeling our hearts being taken over by the experience that is "Africa". We have had some very hard times, some very frustrating times, but also some wonderful, life changing times. We have met some wonderful people and have made life long friends.

I hope you enjoy reading my Tanzanian Jottings. Please feel free to comment and come back often as I plan to keep it very current.
